A guy on my hockey team asked me if I'd be interested in trying to fix "an old bass" he picked up.
I haven't seen it or know exactly whats wrong with it, but it's an old Kay K5970. He thinks it's an electronics issue.
I know...could be anything - won't know until I get my hands on it.

He thinks it's from the 50's or 60's.

I figured that if any group of bass scientists would know anything about this model bass, they'd be hanging out at LBO.
Any words of wisdom?

In my experience corrosion on jack contacts and/or pots is #1 problem if all wiring is intact.

Another vote for dirty jack contacts AND probably dirty pots.

I'll check - he's on my Monday night team, so I'll find out then.
I know he doesn't play bass, so there might be a chance.
