Interesting fin for an LP Deluxe ...
« on: May 30, 2008, 08:05:13 AM »
Never seen that with the tiger stripe maple/vintage sunburst combo before:

Even the most fervent black hardware haters will have to admit this looks good.  :P

Stunning bass. What I find even more strange is the PRS style faux natural binding. I have never seen that on any Gibson before.

It almost looks like a transitional model from the first flat top LP, Ice Cream headtock, Tbird pup, three in a row knob version.

I haven't seen that combination before either. There are some surprises with those early ones.

That's probably actual maple binding, not faux.

No, I think it's the edge because every side grain/stripe lines up with the to ones almost identically.

As it is...its okay, the black parts are, at best utilitarian. With Chrome parts it would be quite beautiful, and it would undoutably sell for more. Love the wood.  :)

I like it too. With this one I wouldn't mind having black hardware. In one way or another it looks quite good with this burst.

Chrome's always better of course.

That's a nice looking LP. I wish the top on my Standard had that nice of a wood grain to it.

The Barts are indeed an issue. I don't care much for them on my five string LP DL, they are ok though with my fretless LP DL and the fretless Doublecut prototype. And they even  fit the bill with the Primavera. If a clear-sounding Gibson is something you strive for, you won't be disappointed with them.

The wood is diminihsed by the cheapy black accoutrements :P :P - kind of like a beautiful woman wearing jewelry from Walmart :P

This is still a fantastic bass - it just needs the artful touch of a Chromling to bring out it's true beauty ;D

Yup!..........Why have hardware from Home Depot when you could get it from Tiffany's. A beautiful bass made plain-jane by the hardware. Imagine a 1959 Cadillac with black parts instead of chrome........difficult  :-X

I prefer the black hardware.  My old 94 LP-2 had Barts and I liked them.  I actually got rid of it becasue I thought it was too nice to play the places I normally played.
(traded it for a 1987 Ric 4003)

I'm just not a fan of chrome.  In fact I'm in the process of flat-blacking out my Harley because it has too much shiny stuff on it...
