You don't see these pop up too often.  I think the price is a tad high, but what do I know anymore?

They ruined by attaching that "other instrument" to it! If it was 12 string guitar and bass I'd be tempted more, but with Gibson it was either 6+4, or 12+6 or in the case of that Elvis doubleneck 4+6 string bass, I've never seen a 4+12 string.

As a bass player, I sound better on a 12-string because I don't overbend the more tense double strings. An electrical six string always sounds out of tune with me the first few minutes.

They do have a make offer button. I would expect this to be at least $10K based on vintage and rarity, not that I think any doubleneck is really worth that.

I would love to be able to scrounge up enough in the couch to buy this, but I have a reclining couch & it flushes the money every time I recline................. I look back, years ago when I came close to paying $4,000.00 for one with Fuzz-Tone. I though it was too much at the time. Now it's way too much!

True, but I have doubts about its originality. Really an odd fin for the time and in suspiciously good condition (not that doublenecks get played or dragged around a lot unless you are a member of Rush, Led Zep or Genesis!) And if it was a refin the price would have to come down quite a bit.

Did I tell you how the CS flatly refused my request for a double neck bass SG even under the preconditions that they could charge what they want AND take as long as they want for it?! I feel really appreciated now, danke schön.

It's possible, that is an unusual finish for its time. Having the hang tag doesn't prove the finish is original.

OTOH the seller is Gary's Classic Guitars in Cincinnati. Gary does have an excellent reputation in the vintage world, you don't get that from misrepresenting your products.

Whilst I have not given this any more than a cursory look, it seems legit to me. I have saved pics of another from '65 with the same finish from a few years back.

I saved these pics from ebay (I think), and know no more about them. Cant recall prices or whether they even sold.

There were only 3 made in '67 (only 24 in total).

The ones i'd really like to see are the two made in the late seventies - there was one made in 1977 and another in '78.

I still regret not buying an SG style doubleneck copy some years ago for like 400 euros.

They are fun.  My ideal would be a 6 string bass with EB-3 Fuzz.  I dig the sunburst, but what they hey-Pelham Blue for me.  Then I think about how huge the damn things are, and where would I stick a case that big, and I would stick it on a stand and knock it over and break the headstock.  I am better off without one.

As usual, Jim, your analysis is knee-jerk and inherently flawed.  How many other guitars and basses are there, I ask you, where you fall down, break one headstock and still have a spare one to play? 

I'd like a double-neck that spawns another two necks whenever you break one, sort of like that size-adjusting jacket in Back to the Future. I'm sure they could have already invented something like that if they really cared to. The SG Medusa!!!

If it's a Gibson, knocking it over would break both headstocks.

A Gretsch Bikini doubleneck would be sturdier. Only problem is, you'd have to dress like this.
