1973 Fender Telecaster Bass Maple Refin

Offered for this on the bay. It looks cool, even refinished. I always wanted to hear the Fender humbucker sound but no luck until now.

Looks nice I like it. These basses have a huge wooly tone.They sound more like a Gibson EBO with authority than a Fender. Lots of fun and a very cool vintage bass. They are a bit limited in application. It will eat a cheap practice amp driver so be careful!

I love my EB-0 and surely will love a Telecaster as well. Regarding the amp, I have 600W Ashdown and two Ampeg Classic (2x12" and 1x15"). If I get I will use for earthworks!

I am definitely a fan of these - refinned & modded is perfect - hopefully keep the price down and you don't have to feel bad about taking it out or modding it yourself! I hope you get it!

the one i have actually is slightly higher than my 64 ebo  on the ohm meter.  very wooly but i always felt a little more definition than the gibbies. (without the SCPB obviously)

Clearly a good portion of the reason but could be the traditional side by side coils versus the 60's gibby way too

The one in my old 77 Tele Bass read about 31.2k, which I think is typical. That and the look are the only things it has in common with the Gibson. The construction is different. Both pickups are muddy but it's not the same kind of mud. The Tele has very strong overdriven mids. Plenty of lows and some highs but the mids overshadow them. OTOH the Gibson doesn't have much going on above 1khz.

First time I ever heard the term "mudbucker" years ago was when Steve Barr used it. He was describing the Tele Bass pickup, not the Gibson.
