I anxoiusly now await the Krist Novoselic padded signature bass.

It's been 17+ years now, so that's about the right time for Gibson.  ;D

Yeah, look how many decades it took for them to offer up an Ace Frehley or Peter Frampton LP model. I think the Ace model was a fluke that it coincided with the original KISS reunion.

The fact that they missed the opportunity of doing that for what is probably the most influential (hey, I'm not saying it was a good influence, ok?!) rock band of the last two decades shows how complacent and sleepy they are. Or out of touch. A cheaply priced Epi Novoselic signature RD? They would have sold shitloads of it.

Until recently, actual RD basses were cheaply priced. I saw quite a few barely move for well under $500. There's no way a $3-400 Epi would have sold.

Maybe a reissue Victory? Bolt on neck, maple (so they wouldn't get raided), etc.

By the way, that Shavo thing is pretty ugly. Who the hell is Shavo, anyway?
Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?

Not everybody buys used guitars or has the knowledge to. There is a market of kids going into a store and saying to mom and pop: "I want that one! That is so cool, the Nirvana guy played it."

Plus: What I have seen in the last 8 years, a good quality RD always fetches 800 to a 1.000 bucks. Where were you with your $500 tip when I needed it in 2003 when I bought my first RD for twice as much? !!! :)

When the 'Heart Shaped Box' video came out, The Bass Place had an ebony RD Artist that was in good condition for $350. They raised the price a little because of Nirvana. If I only had a time machine  >:(

Go back a year from that and I was working at the music store where I saw all of them.

Back to the original subject: At least Shavo seems to like it. There is a new interview with him in German muso mag Bass Professor and he fondles it in every pic. Not much about it in the interview though except that he says that it is now his best-sounding bass "and that is saying something as I have too many basses" and "Gibson got it exactly right how I wanted it to sound". Wonder if there is any change other than the vintage headstock and the different wood wings.

His "dream bass" though is some vintage white sixties Jazz Bass that a California store won't sell to him but rents out for recordings. He says he has a soft spot for sixties Js.

Speaking of hard things then, obviously, the neck on his signature is a stable affair even under pressure in an erect state ...

That black hardware really complements his jacket, doesn't everyone here think so?

The Shavo Bird will not become a regular or limited model, Gibson says, they built it just for him. Start writing encouraging and politiely phrased letters to Henry J. now ...

Uwe, with as many Gibson models as you've supported they should at least be willing to divert one to Germany! By now you must have someone at corporate you can get to work it out.

Congratulating him?
