Aluminum is for sure too heavy. But Lucite????Anybody hear anything on Lucite basses or guitars??? Are there good qualities???? or bad???

It's HEAVY...plus when stage lights hit it, the lucite expands and your tuning goes wacky.  Thunderbucker used to play a Dan Armstrong (with a pup mod of course) back in the day.

Really??? Aw...that sucks!! So ThunderB played one, eh? Cool. Did it sound ok??

No, never did even after he routed the body and replaced the slide in Dan Armstrong pup with a Humbucker.  Zero resonance, might as well been a slab of granite...probably would have sounded better if it was.

Wow! Thanks for the info! Gruhn has an all lucite p bass and is asking around $20,000.00 for it! Guess I'll just stick to wood!!

Yeah that's great!!! I personally don't like USA companies that farm out labor to other countries for cheaper labor (And sometimes inferior quality) when it takes jobs out of America. There have been some great Japanese Fenders and Gibsons..(Y'know I love the Orvilles). I hope I did not offended you. I did in no way shape or form mean it that way, Pekka.

You didn't offend me, I think I might have misundertood your point in the first place.
I agree with you on the more-cheaper-inferior factor.

Great looking basses anyway, the 8-string non-reverse especially. I've been pondering about which kind of 8-string I'm about to get made sometime in the future and the non-reverse is one of the options. One problem is that I'd like it to be stereo and Rickenbacker -style pickup positions work very well in that kinda of thing. The non-reverse would look a bit strange with the other pickup close to the neck but on the other hand there was this:

Maybe a bass version would look great too.

SKATE RAT

Greg Ginn from Black Flag played a Dan Armstrong guitar, and has the most incredible sound. i know Jack Bruce and Geezer played the basses (i've seen photo's) but don't know if either used them on records or not.

Jack probably used his fretless on "How's Tricks" and Geezer on "Vol 4".

One of my favorite 8-string tracks (originally played on an Alembic) played on the Futura!
