An article about the theft is on the front page of the Winston Salem Journal and is all over Facebook too. Hopefully the heightened awareness will help get our guitars and basses back!

That's good, if they haven't left the area.

A friend in NYC told me that a guy at Rudy's Music told HIM about it, so news of the theft is traveling pretty far and wide.

Denis, I'm not trying to hijack your thread but my April 1973 Burgundyglo Rickenbacker 4001 was stolen in November 2006. It's serial number is MD1582. It's deep burgundy, almost eggplant and has a Horseshoe p/u in the bridge position, full with MOP inlays, checkered binding, split tailpiece, Grover tuners and was in excellent plus condition.

If you happen upon a beautiful early 70's Burgundyglo 4001, please check its serial number. If its MD1582 you've found the needle in the haystack.

Thx,

TD

I visited a few bigger pawn shops in Myrtle Beach this past week.
Lotsa junk, no real good stuff anywhere.

The more people hear about it, the better. Someone in Winston-Salem posted a link to the Journal article at the TDPRI.

The G&L has been recovered! Apparently all the media coverage is having its affect!

Great news!  If the police are on the ball they should be able to back track off of that one bass.  Good luck!

That's encouraging. Any details on where and how they found the G&L?

Denis

Unfortunately I don't have any further details so it's possible the police are on the track and don't want to jeopardize the investigation.

Just heard through the grapevine that the Guild has been recovered. However, I have not heard this from Mitch or anyone locally.

If that turns out to be true, I'd say the prospect of getting yours back is looking good.

Denis

More news. Mitch confirmed to me that the Guild was recovered. Both it and the G&L were located at a pawn shop in Winston Salem, only 20 minutes from where they were stolen. The police have video from the pawn shop of the two guys unloading them, plus, and this is even better, a license plate number as of yesterday. They're looking for the owner of the car now.
