"life is a blur of republicans and meat"- zippy the pinhead

Nice!  But it's not much different than the original theme song.
Telling tales of drunkenness and cruelty

the song has to stay the same. it's the odd artist combo that got me.

Not so odd, NRBQ used to do some Sun Ra IIRC (Rocket #9 take off for the planet?).  Saw the whole Arkestra playing Slugg's in the lower East Side in March '69 '68.  Club was about 12 feet wide and 100 feet long, man did they fill the place!

This version swings.

Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit would play "Space is the Place" to close their shows, and included the "Rocket #9 Take Off for the Planet Venus" line.

I got heavily into Sun Ra for a while - I think I even had the Batman album but I don't really remember it too much.

the MC5 also did rocket #9. a version of sorts. btw the 'odd' part im my post meant sun ra covering a strange song for them, not other bands aping sun ra.

I guess my point was that there was a lot of crossover around that time, especially in the New York music scene.  BST came out of that when Al Kooper of the Blues Project put it together.  Then they kicked him out and became huge playing MOR crap.  I was a big Blues Project fan.
