Can anyone tell what that bass is, the one Jim Pons - I guess it's him - plays here:

Chris P.

Hard too see. Pickguard is à bit Hofner. Harmony maybe?

It's a Hofner w/ the floral vine inlay.

You guys seems to be absolutely right. But after checking the net I don't get whether Pons's bass is a Senator or President model. Though that's a problem of the minor scale. Thanks!
While checking for theses basses I also ran across pictures of two Hofners I owned when I was in my late teens: a Violin bass, and a Club bass. Nice basses, though I prefer the Bach T-bird. Played it as late as last night at rehearsal. Wonderful bass!

It might be a Hofner Committee or a President. The Senators were only single pup. You can't(well actually you can) compare the Bach T bird with a Hofner as they are 2 completely different animals. Hofners have to be approached 'delicately' to bring out their particular sound. I have 7 different ones from President to Club etc. and a new '58 ri and when I pick them up after bashing around with my TBIV or my Celinders or PRS where you can really dig in I have to sort of straighten out my tie and settle down a bit. However you can get some big sound out of a Hofner and it is all not just boom as some think. They lead you in another direction and these days with better amplification you can really get to the heart of the matter with them.
