83 Kubicki fretless neck and 74 Fender electronics with a Fender body, neck plate and tuners of unknown origin and date. I think his asking price is optimistic.

Are you talking about his necks with the dozens of laminations? From what I can see of the neck shaft and headstock, this looks like a one-piece neck.

Early 80s Kubicki necks are the bomb.  A fretless is off the hook!

I hadn't seen the pic (can't on Blackberry) and didn't even know he had non-laminated ones. Those are very sturdy necks, but hardly growlers.

I have one of his fretted necks on my frankenjazz. The date is hand written on the heel of the neck. 11-'84.

Yeah, Kubicki necks are actually better than most Fender Custom Shop builds...because Phil WAS the "Fender Custom Shop" in the 60s-70s, before he left to build his own licensed Fender parts in the late 70s-early 80s. I've seen some of his Fender necks alone go for as high as $600 used.

Only after this did he start doing his headless bass stuff....then licensed Fender to build them for him for a couple of years. But Fender cut corners, dropping the quality and Phil took back the line to build them right again.

Pre and post Fender Kubicki stuff is amazing quality. I have a number of rare Kubickis....Stu Hamm's and Neil Stubenhaus' personal axes among them.

The Fender clone parts are AAA+....BTW Kubicki also built a lot of OEM for the other brands that "built" Fender licensed parts early on...and they slapped their brands on them! A number of custom builders also used his custom order parts and them slapped their names on them as well.

For Uwe....Kubicki also made some Gibson headstock necks, although I have only seen 6-string guitar ones that bolt on and the truss rod adjust is at the heel. They were for someone building dobro/metal guitars. Pretty rare.

The only other Gibson type Kubikcis I've seen are his mini Les Paul and Flying V travel guitars.

I have heard tale of some stuff he did with cast-off Fender Coronado Wildwood lumber.  I have never seen it, but I would dig a Wildwood neck!

Hey Everybody:

That was my Black Fretless Kubicki on eBay. I did a search looking for more necks and found your very cool forum.
It sold for $850 which was fair. I let it go because the nut was 1 5/8. Wonderful Bass and the New owner was very Happy!

Im always searching for more Kubicki Jazz and P Bass Necks.
