I finished my prototype for my Offenderbird:

And now I've moved onto the Offenderbird II...maybe

I ordered some EMGs and all the hardware... Including an Allparts Danelectro neck (a 24 fret 30" scale neck blank essentially!)

But in my endless thoughts I came up with another idea: my own hollowbody:

What do you guys think? I'm liking the shape but I'd like some opinions not as biased as mine. Lol

I like it, it has a retro kinda look that is appealing.

I like the overall idea of the sketch. Sorta reminds me of that funny Yamaha that was posted here a while back (minus the long lower point).

Like the green Bird for sure!

Welcome. You have brought the average age down aby decades..

Love the bird.

Hollow body..... you may want to first go chambered and see how that works. True hollow bodies are a whole nother animal...

Is there any one on the forum willing to trace their NR Tbird's body onto paper and mail the tracing to me please?

Send me private message with your email and I'll send you a PDF plan I scanned of the NR that includes all of the measurements. George, Old Man C here, provided a great image with overlayed measurents and John, Barkless Dog, provided the original trace. All you need to do is take the file someplace with a Wide Format, engineering, printer and print it out - should be way less than $5. Kinkos, Office Depot, Staples and Office Max usually have the printer.

I'm using two pieces of wood for the body (like a top and bottom.(
I wanna do some chambering on each price before gluing but how should I go about this?
Chamber each part, glue whole wood then cut the shape?
Or chamber, cut shape, then glue...?

You might consider cutting an inch or so off the bridge end of the body. Lot of body for a little neck IMO, looks a little strange with all that wood behind the bridge. But overall very nice.

I see you found a place to print that out for you already! That was fast.

If I may toss out a few ideas:

If you stay with the shorty neck how about shrinking the body by about an inch all the way around - it might scale better with the neck.

Or, find a full scale neck. When I built one of these, hence the plan, I decided that I would shift the neck back about 1/2" toward the bridge end as the reach to the first fret was kinda long on my first build.

The basses were thin - I believe about 1 1/4" thick so the chambering might not be needed.
