The original is a mudbucker not a single coil, the cover is plastic not bakelite.  There was NO HANDREST on the original.  And mine intonates very well, as well as my '55 Precision did. Neck is 1 3/4" wide at the nut and substantial. And the "chrome" (all 1 piece of it) is NICKEL

Yes Carlo you are correct it is nickel, I was just excited. I will go back tomorrow and get more details.

No biggie, Scott.  I don't expect nickel on anything except CS these days.  Most people don't care.  It's gonna be strange seeing these basses around, mine is the only one I've ever seen in person.

Wow - an act of bravery to bring out that many short scales in a long scale world. Most likely the Flying V will then be short scale too. With a Thunderbird, a short scale could actually see the neck joint move back a bit with the neck sticking out more and giving hitherto unknown high register access without lower regions becoming to uncomfortable to reach. Still a minority bass though.

EB 11 for a 2011 bass - makes sense in way, there was never any deeper meaning to that numerical model naming anyway. That they will use banjo tuners boggles the mind - these can then not be the banjo tuners of old which were a pain to tune and whose gears would not withstand the pull of the bass strings for long.

Damn, I was gonna do a short scale TB! Oh well, I'll let Gibson test the market for me.  I do think I might need one of those EB basses!  Looks like a trip to the HOG is in order.  I hate being the last to know these things!

Looks like a decent idea for around $400.  If it was an Epi, it would sell for less than that.
