hey all. I have a strange question.

Anyone know what brand of string maker made flatwound bass strings with dark-ish purple silk ends? I have played a few basses (older ones) that had them and I loved the feel of the strings. They looked old but still sang.

Anyone have any idea at all?

I've got a set of GHS Precision Flats on my Magnum-I.  Those have dark purple silks (that you can barely see in this picture):

There may be other strings with purple silks - I'm not terribly experienced with flats.

I'll try them to see if they're the strings in question, thanks chromium.

Love that Magnum! My uncle has one with a nice Fender Bassman head and 4x12. I'm always trying to buy it, but he doesn't want to...;)

LaBella tapewounds do, and maybe other LaBellas do. But LaBella 760FM (49-109) flats have dark blue silks and the 760FL (43-104) have red silks.
