OK, I've finally done my reverse-engineered neck for the Guild.  Here's how I did it.  Took me a while to get to it.  I had to measure a lot since the tenon is offset, not centered.

1.  Simply put, I used clear contact paper over the top to trace the outline of the tenon rout.
2.  I traced that and routed a template of it.
3.  I then used that to rout a test piece for fit.
4.  Then, I routed the neck heel using the template.

Turned out great!

Did the headstock too last weekend.  I decided to use a mahogany neck I had laying around in the shop, but the headstock was too small for that giant Guild pattern, so we added a few pieces to it so things would fit.  I actually used pieces I had cut form the heel of the neck and the match was very good.

Then we taped the Guild template on routed her!

I wish I had another mahog neck kickin around . Mine came in handy for my modern . My only complaint is  its not as grainy as the body . As usual I cant wait to see more progress Doc

Wow... so the neck was installed off center and you've now got the pocket centered? Were the pickup routs centered?

Nice work, as always.

I agree, those necks were not that grainy at all.  But they do work well.

Nope, I left the pocket alone and cut the tenon off-center as needed.  The routs are off just 1/" or as as well.  Strange way of doing things, but I found out it was common with Guild and Gretsch hollow and semi-hollow guitars/basses with set necks.

I routed the body for the pups.  They fit nicely.
