I had a designer friend do a couple take offs on my two favorite bass shapes and this is what he came up with.  They will probably become the two models I end up making routinely in my retirement.  They will be semi-hollow with or without f-holes/binding, any scale and I am planning on a BassVI, 30" model as well.  What do you think?

Excellent. Not only are they original, but I LIKE them.

I really like B! It would be nice to see these photoshoped with hardware and finishes.

I like them both!  A looks more Surfish, B looks more Explorerish.  (And were I speaking, I would attempt crisp diction when expressing that.)

A looks like a perfect candidate for a short scale neck!

Thanks guys!  Chuck did a nice job!  Over the next year I'm going to build templates and jigs so I can produce them en mass rather than one at a time.  My goal is a lot like Carlo's.  Build a couple a month, use eBay and an inexpensive web site.  Should be great fun!

Both have excellent possibilities.  Looking forward to seeing how they work as semi hollow bodies, I think that's a great marketing decision since you'll be doing set necks.

B for me though a "shadow" may change when it takes "shape..."

I think the upper horn is long enough to keep the neck under control.  I don't have any neck problems with my 4005 clone, which this bass will be similar to.

I agree Al.  I think a short scale will work well with either one.
