Perhaps we can send Mel over to lead the revolt.

Forgot to mention, all the (unseasonal) warm weather, and the longer than average Easter break has resulted in an inordinate amout of forest fires all over the country...

I was concerned about that but the bridge I'm modding is available as a Fiver.  Allparts makes a nice 3/2 headstock neck with rosewood board.  I have one around somewhere.
Well that pretty much answers two of the questions I had regarding the feasibility of a 5-string version. I'll be sending an email sometime over the weekend when I've sorted out all my thoughts.

M-O-O-N, that spells moon. :D
Nothing is what it seems but everthing is exactly what it is.

Carlo,

Can you tell me if the Gotoh Res O Lite GB528's are reversible to make a 2 + 2 configuration?

I don't think so but I'll take a look tomorrow.

According to my 2010 Gotoh catalog, they are.

dadagoboi

Thanks, Dave.

The size of the mounting plates might make Resolites difficult to use on a Gibson size 2+2 headstock plus the length of the shaft would look wrong to me.  Hipshot Ultralites (nickel plated like the resolites, even though they're described as chrome) might be a better option IMO.

Maybe not as bad as one thinks but I do value your opinion (or else I would not have asked, thanks Carlo). The shafts are a bit fat looking for a 2 + 2 on a Gibby head but overall not too bad. These are pics of Rob's LP prototype bass.

And thanks Dave.

Well, you learn something every day.  Didn't know these existed, only familiar with vintage reverse ones.  Those look fine to me., though I prefer the trad nickel originals.

...Who's that 'Les Paul' guy?  He must be a really famous bass player, right?

Right. Lester William Polsfuss (Les Paul's real name), instructor at a local house of music. Currently putting together a group with a guy named Jimi, a bassist named Felix, a chick named Janis and a drummer named Moon (M-O-O-N spells Moon).
