I'm almost done with the finishing of my self built bass.

Now that I have to wait before I can start the polishing/buffing I have time to figure out how I'm gong to wire the thing...

I have two single coil G3 (or S1) pickups. One of them is reverse polarity. I bought them in the beginning of the BaCHbird project. With the idea to put them together as a humbucker. But the Artec turned out pretty good so I never used this pair.

Plus I have an Artec Mudbucker that I've been planning to use since I tested a Stagg EB0 type bass with the mudbucker at the bridge. I liked the effect of the mudbucker in that position.

I want to use a five six position rotary switch to choose the different combinations.
And one volume knob and one tone knob

But I have no idea how to tackle this :o
Can any of you guys help me out?

Here's a drawing I made with all the components I have :

and a pdf in vector format:

Unless I've gone bananas, Rob, that's a six position switch...? it moves 5 times but has six positions... yes...?

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Excellent! That means I have one extra option to wire. :-)
Let me think; position 6 bridge pickup plus neck pickup?

I thought of something more simpler and much more practical than those dreadful rotary switches, but it involves the use of two 3-way switches instead. Are you interested on that? Or are you determined to use that rotary madness?

Rob is terminally involved with those switches... ;)

Haha, I actually own only one bass with a rotary switch and that is the JCS with only three positions.
I really want to keep the top as clean as possible. So I'd rather have one rotary switch than two toggle switches...
I'm even going to hide the Tone pot on the back of the body  8)

Hmmm, maybe a 3-way and a push-pull pot then? :D

Is a rotary switch really that bad? I figured it's really handy for multiple connections?

Looks fine on mine and its all a matter of esthetics - your looking at a hybrid LP, so it suits...

Before you do anything you need to connect everything up to a test rig so you can see what will be usefull sounds before going to the fun-and-games of the final wiring... I spent ages figuring mine out and then discovered a circuitry feedback issue...

I could figure out most of it... What are the resistance values of the pups...?

I don't know Kenny. I'm going to have to dig up my multimeter. Hope it still works...

Let me guess, some nice green fungus like material where the battery used to live...? ;D

I'll go and play with my pencil and some paper - shouldn't make a massive amount of difference as your only using a master vol/tone...

No, I think it's the connectors/wires that have suffered serious abuse...  :P

The Artec is really hot, I believe it's 30 K

The G3 pickup should be somewhere just under 10K.

It hasn't "all three" option, but it has "mud plus neck" that is much more useful. Take it or leave it, my head is about to explode!  ;D
