Swing punk

when my youngest son got his first punk band together in high school they wanted me to write a few tunes. so i did but added walking basslines instead ofthe usual barrage of eighth notes on the root. the drummer called it swing punk. i kind of liked that term. yeah, not much of a story but i nice memory for me. ;D

Sometimes that can really make a difference. Not that root 8th notes are bad, they're just right for certain songs. But other times a little creativity can go a long way.
