Epe nonreverse style headstock, Victory style fingerboard, P and J pickups, active not passive, gold hardware, pearl finish and a strange body shape.

Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
Clocks.

Vintage? LOL!

That's an EBM-4. Made all during the 90s. There was a 5 string version too.

I think there was a law that every used guitar store and pawn shop had to have one in stock at all times.  ;)  The current $300 bid is already on the high side.

His girlfriend bought it for him:

Nocturnal

There is one for sale on CL with a rapidly declining price:

He was asking more the first couple of times he posted it.

There are always phases on Ebay when these crop up a lot. To give some credit to Epi, it was at least an original design of sorts. Very late eighties, early nineties, but fashion is a fleeting thing. I detect some Kubicki stylisms in that bass and a Kubicki was my mainstay bass for all of the late eighties and early nineties. I loved its looks and sound. These days I can still appreciate the "Rickenbacker goes Jetsons"-body style, but the sound is too compressed and bony for me (or hilariously subwoofish if you chose that other setting).

Blackbird

Kinda looks like a Peavey Cirrus in a certain way too.

Dang, I think this is the first one I've ever seen. Epiphone must have made a bunch of strange basses you don't see much (of course, I got busted for my Gibson IV comment so what do I know...).

That's odd that you never saw one before, because my experience mirrors Dave's. I don't think there was ever a music store or pawn shop around here that didn't have one about 10-15 years ago. They suck pretty bad.

I remember those. I was giving lessons to a guy that had a red one back in the mid-90s. The gold painted pups ad an extra level of "class".

The guy in the video isn't the eBay seller AFAIK. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. After my first post I decided to check and make sure I had the model name right, then saw the video.

Those covers were really cheesy, but I did try one, and I thought it was a decent bass.  I'm not big on active, but it sounded and played pretty well.  For the going price, which seems to hover between $100-150, they really aren't a bad bass.  I'd take one of these over those nasty ET-260 basses any day.
