One for ze kölleckshün?
« on: July 15, 2010, 11:41:05 AM »
An RD Artist, fretless and in tobacco burst, THAT IS an attractive combination:

First one I have ever seen for sale- a must have, yes?

Looks to be in really good condition.

Maybe we need to confer with Italy & Japan on this?

I've seen two fretless RDs up on Ebay before, one of them might haven even been a CMT one. Very Ralphe Armstrong this one.

I would think with the compression would be prety intersting on a fretless- A must have you know. I always really like the antique burst- a custom color you know?

I haven't followed RD Artist prices, so I may be off base here, but isn't that pretty high for an opening bid?

1.O00 bucks is pretty much the going rate for a good condition RD Artist. This one has a rare fin and is a fretless to boot. And like all fretless basses, it has a smaller market, but those within that market are willing to pay a premium. Against that background, I find the seller's minimum bid pleasantly non-speculative. He has priced it for the knowing and not for the casually or whimsically interested.

True, a real drawback. Not to mention that horribly plain chrome hardware which really drags the bass down.

I bet you would sound pretty good on a fretless.
