Wow, look what just popped up on Ebay. I know it has issues but man I wish I could afford to buy this. It has been repaired, I think it's worth it for parts alone. I think all the repairs would be easily disguised once it was all refinished. I'm sure someone on here must be interested in this, right?

Not a pretty sight but he's upfront about the issues. He'll probably get his price.

Yeah, it's definitely somewhat of a train wreck but as long as the repairs are solid it might be pretty cool after a refin, new pickguard and a few other minor repairs. As we all know, the headstock repair on these things is very common, I have seen NR Birds go for a lot more than this that have also had a headstock repair but usually those ones at least look better or have at least been restored already. This one is tough because it looks like crap so it's probably a pretty big turn off for most people.

It's also for sale local to me - for less money. Listed as a '64 but it's the same bass.

I expected it to look much worse judging from your description before I saw the pics. It actually has roadwarrior charm. Something that wouldn't look out of place with Mike Watt. Not overpriced at all.

How do you know it's the same bass? There's no photo on the Craigslist ad. If that is the same bass then the Craigslist price is an insane deal in my opinion.

It's an instinctive thing with some of the guys round here...

Some of them can sniff a Gibbie out at two hundred adverts, err... paces... ;D

Somebody buy her and love her and cherish her and restore her former glory; either that or refin and sell on at a whopping profit... :o

Phil Petillo broke and then repaired the headstock?  :P

Are you sure it's the same bass as the one on eBay? I mean, it's possible that there are two Thunderbirds in Jersey.  :)  Especially since the one of CL says it's a 64 and doesn't mention being NR.

Not that it matters I think it is a converted II, look at the control placement. The two volume controls look to close together.

I dunno Scott, you know how faithful Bionic Joe is - The 8 string Non Reverse he made has the knobs slightly offset like that too. They're just at the right margin in this shot......

I answered the CL ad and asked for pics. He sent different pics than the ebay listing, but it's the same bass.

I just emailed him and asked if he would take  his CL asking  price of $1250.00 and I drive down and get it. Lets see what happens.
