Denis to the rescue!
Go for it. With a little (or perhaps more than a little) TLC it'll be okay

BTW I was in Sanford for two weeks a few years ago. Not the most lively place...

Of course I did. Nothing a good luthier couldn't fix. All the pieces of the puzzle are still there.

Your optimism on such things is highly encouraging (and detrimental to the bank account  ;D )!
I'll email him and see what he says about it. I don't want to pay the upper end of his $350-$450 range though.

I saw that a couple of days ago, and it really is a great project.  All the stuff is there, and it looks like the pup is right.  In sh!t shape, but you have refin and glue work - no problem really.  I think for less than 400 that is great.  Prices are down, but they ain't that down for project stuff.  Get some sun, and pick up this hurt puppy.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Okay, the pickup isn't stock: it says Musicman and it fits inside the original cover but he says no one's been able to identify it.

Give it a shot, Denis, the lady needs some TLC...

Well, emails exchanged, he asked for and received my schedule for being in Orlando so we'll see. Some other guy apparently offered a trade before I emailed so he's going to let me know if that goes through. Wish me luck!

Haha, I'm not sure why I liked these old trashed ones. Maybe I feel sorry for them. :)

Good luck!   You need to experience the mudbucker in EB-2/Rivoli context at least once in life.

Do you have any friends that do drywall?  ;D

EB-2 or rivoli is cool to have.  Broken headstock and not original pup????  sounds like a lot of work and some decent $ investment to get it up to snuff.....

Not worth it to me. At that price you'd have to put in too much work for too little reward if you ever plan to sell it.

Maybe a MusicMan guitar pickup? I don't know of any MM bass pickup from any era that would fit in a mudbucker cover.

Less attractive without the original pup................................ Sell the MM and find a Muddy.

It certainly won't kill me if the other guy works a deal and ends up getting it.
