What exactly are they doing there? Bending the wings?

That's what it looks like. Bending them upward much more than they would be expected to move even under severe circumstances.

All wings"flap", some more than most... impressive... I will feel very comfortable whilst the fuselage is being put through 10G+... :o

I can say beyond all doubt that is a contraption!

I wonder how long they have to remain bent like that in order to pass the test.

I haven't caught sight of one of these flying yet......my work is in the southern flightpath of Boeing Field. At one point or another I've seen B-17s, 24's, 52's, B1's - every possible commercial plane including the Concorde at The Museum of Flight.........I'll catch this bird too  ;)

I lived in Fulham in the early 90's. The Concorde used to fly over twice a day. Man sucker was loud. You certainly knew when it was about.

I was one of those sad people who stood at the end of the runway at night, just to watch those blue flames light up, both when I worked there and later...

(serious flight path envy...)

Just as a short post script re Boeing Field's flight path this morning as I was coming into work what should fly over but a B-17.........it was magnificent!
I'm awed at the thought of hundreds of them flying in formation, what a sight that must have been for friend or foe.........

Looking at those wings bent upward - it would be a bad idea to stand underneath. lest one come loose.

Talk about being driven into the concrete.................yeesh.

Hundreds? Imagine when the Allies started putting together 1,000 bomber raids in 1942!
