I was chatting with the owner of the local House of Guitars and he invited me to come down to the store tomorrow with my rehabbed 60's NR cuz the Gibson reps are gonna be in town for the day.  What's the big deal?  He said, and I'm not hosing you, that Gibson is looking at making an NR bass reissue!  Now I know the finish will be average and the price too high, if it ever actually happens, but it would be fun to give them some pointers before they go an make them.  I will report back tomorrow ( and take my camera too just in case there's something interesting so photograph).

Scott, you around tomorrow???

I can be there by 12 too.  Let's plan on meeting there.  Maybe have lunch afterward?

Gee, I wonder where they could have gotten the idea that the NR RI would sell?  Couldn't POSSIBLY be a small group of fanatics that found someone to make a mighty fine copy...

Scott, if I can make it work I'll certainly be up for one. I'd prefer a II as well but would buy the IV if that's what was made. I'm excited to hear more!

DOH!  I almost bit, too!  ???

So you think the good doctor has a wicked sense of humor?  This is kind of Uwe's forte' - Doc is learning. :P

I heard they're finally going to put the G4 prototype into production.

Years ago when I read Guitar Player they had a article written by George Gruhn.  He described the Firebird/Thunderbird series as having models numbered I, III, V, and VII and II, IV and VI.  I finally wrote him back in the 1990's and he confirmed that they never made a Thunderbird VI bass.  Would have been cool though with an Ebony Board and the big pearl blocks!

First, don't knowhow I missed Scott's thread, but I've been teaching a lot at night and not following the Gibby threads closely of late.  Second, Hey, I'm not kidding!!!  The HOG is one of the largest Gibson dealers in the US and if they thought they could sell 12 or more NR RIs, they'd order them.  Also, it's a chance for Scott and I to kick the rep's butt over not issuing RIs that would actually sell!   :P  More on today's escapades later!!!

This is not April 1?  ???

Needless to say I'm in for any kind of Non Rev Gibson produce before they are bought by B&CH!

With Gibson's usual lead time I may have a chance to save some pennies and be in for one!
