I was in the shower when it happened, the bottles of shampoo started rocking around and it sounded like a snow plow scraped the street (which is what I thought it was). Turns out it was another Earthquake.

QuoteA 3.8 magnitude  earthquake rattled the western suburbs early this morning. There were no reports of damage after the 3:59 a.m. quake, centered about 6 miles west of Elgin.

What's odd is that 11:00pm, five hours prior to the quake, my wife and I both heard a weird single burst of sound that seemed eerie and supernatural. We were at opposite ends of the house but both heard it equally as loud. My wife was genuinely frightened. A search revealed nothing out of place and no tracks in the snow around the house. We're still not sure what to think, but if the quake had woken us up, we probably would have freaked out.

Yeah I leave to work out at about 4:30, leave there by 6:00, get to work by 6:30 AM. Working 7 days a week for a fraction of my old pay- The joys of owning your own business- work your own hours, at your own pace. I'm working my arse off.

Last year when the recession broke 90% of our companies income was cut off. We have cash reserves to last through this year, but only on drastically cut costs. There is light at the end of the tunnel though-hopefully it's not a freight train.

But at least I have a company still and health insurance.

Ah, did not realize you made that change. We're in similar straights...merged two offices in December to save overhead. Good to hear you weren't trying to catch a red-eye after the snow disrupted flights.

I'm glad to hear that there's a glimmer of hope.  I'm damn sure tired of bad news.  Here's hoping things continue on the positive track :)

I met with our accountant and he pretty much had the same story of most the his client companies.

Companies adjusting to less income, freezing hiring, pay freezes, lay offs, reduced wages, decreased hours for hourly employees, increased hour, more hours & responsibilities for salaried employees. Partnerships splitting, people going on their own to start their own business (no ones hiring $100,000 people).

If our company can hang on this year, things could turn around for us. We have things going in the works, but there are no guarantees.

My sister is going through her stem cell transplant/transfusion for her blood cancer. Her prognosis is good, although they can't cure it.

I might have a lot of aches & pains, but my family is healthy & alive. Thats pretty good. Someone my daughter knows that was a freshman in high school, dropped dead of a massive heart attack, before school, out of nowhere. She was thought to be healthy.

I enjoy every waking healthy moment of my life. After my child hood anything normal is pure gold to me. Im very happy.

Good to know you're hangin in there John. '09 was a brutal year for us at the case shop. Scary man. I can kinda make a living playing covers, but for how long? 2010 is shaping up to be much better though. Where'd all the money go????? SOMEBODY'S got it!

Thanks , I just can't comprehend what the procedure is they are doing to her, draining her blood out, freezing it removing stem cells, then radiating it, growing new stem cells from hers, then putting it back in. Then she gets these shots. The blood cancer attacks the bones. She has developed a hole in her hip where the blood/cancer is attacking her. Stiil if she can not get any infections after this, she should go into remission for several years, then they do it again.

Meanwhile, back to the earth quake, a co worker of my wife told her, their parakeet freaked out and start going nuts, pulling most of its feathers out.

I saw a comedian talking comparing our earth quake with it being 60 degrees in California, 3.8 soooooo. Everything is relative.

Well it did get down to the mid 30s here the other night which is not that normal.
