Gibson EB-2D from Germany

I have seen this great bass from Germany  on ebay

I just look suspiciously to the tuners and the label inside the f hole. They do not look the right ones. Any expert can give me an advice?

I haven't seen a label like that but then again I can't remember seeing an EB-2 as late as 71. OTOH I'm not aware of any EB-2 copies that used the two point nylon saddle bridge. The tuners aren't original, but the seller does say so.

Looks like a poorly repaired neck/headstock break and the serial number is gone. I wouldn't pay much for it.

The shipping total book doesn't show any EB-2D's in cherry, only 175 in sunburst for 1970. It does show 23 EB-2's in cherry. It might be a conversion since the bridge pickup has a Gibson logo & the mudbucker does not.
I have never seen an EB-2 without an orange lable. The tuners, (one being replaced), the bridge & the Gibson logo mini humbucker are all from about the right era for it being an early seventies as the label suggests. Stranger things have popped up from time to time.

Sorry, I should have thought about it more. I think you're right, the three Gibson logo tuners are proper for that era.

The label looks correct for a 70's era Gibson.  Here is one from an old 335 of mine.

I still wouldn't offer much because that headstock might well need more repair and there's no s/n.

I have seen those labels before, typically on post 1972 ES-335s.  It looks like a very late EB-2, probably one of the last ones made.  That would be a legit label and the late Schaller tuners.  The headstock does look like it has maybe been broken and repaired as the back of the headstock should be red and have a serial number.

My Les Paul Signatures have that sticker. Mr Gruhn says it runs from early 1970 to1983. I've read where Gibson had marketed models in Europe differently than in the US, sometimes before they were introduced here.

I've seen that label too - it is legit. I actially think the whole bass is (tuners aside). The neck looks refinned though, there might be a repair underneath like Dave said.

I wonder whether there was 'made in usa' on the back of the headstock?

I also wonder whether these late EB2s ever got a three-piece mahogany neck, or whether it was always one-piece.

Anyone fancy buying it and telling me? Or emailing the seller and explaining why we need to know such trivial details?

I was thinking that all EB2 where with Kluson elephant ear tuner, but apparently I was wrong

Gibson started using those Schallers on EBs around 1971 I believe.  The last ones all use those.

Actually they seem to have started using those tuners as early as 1969. Don't know about the EB-2's but my solid headstock 1969 (pot codes 25'th week 1969) EB-3 has those, so I believe they started using them when the slotheads were up on the sketch board. The Les Paul basses used them also I think.
