I spotted this but it was all too late.
So, if you like Gibson Basses, especially RD's, please enjoy the
pics below.  8)

Is that a beauty, or what?
Please let it be mine next time, PLEASE!! :-[
Now a little more wiser. . . . .

Not bad ... but the crown of RD creation still is the CMT version:

Outside of 'Birds...................RD's are so COOL!
Resident T Bird playing Drag Queen www.thenastyhabits.com  "Impülsivê", the new lush fragrance as worn by the unbelievable Fräulein Rômmélle! Traces of black patent leather, Panzer grease, mahogany and model train oil mingle and combust to one sheer sensation ...

That ketchup and mustard looks super clean though....

heres my CMT to add to the pile

clankenstein

nice.what does the extra switch on the cmt do?
Louder bass!.

Highlander

iirc thats the compressor & expander - you can run the both simultaneously, which is kinda wierd... I carried out that mod on mine after I got fed up of the multi-leaf jamming up, and prior to my err... mods...  ;D

I see what you mean, Eric... that was an early one... bummer...

I prefer the colour of Uwe's CMT, but they both are beauties...

Soon as I finish my Peter Cook I'll be doing the RD's refurb...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

EvilLordJuju

It started in '79 before the CMTs - the older version had a three way, the newer had two two ways.

So the only real difference is the original version can not be in bright mode and compression/expansion at the same time. The second version can do both. I do like that setting

Typical... I picked up the "pup"...  ;)

I managed to aquire a pair of these in fireburst. I did have a couple chances to buy a CMT, but a pair would have been next to imposible. I waited too long to buy an origional Thunderbird & Firebird, this may be the closest I ever get. They both are the early version with the three way toggle for Expansion & Compression.
I picked up a NOS circuit board on eBay a few years back. Does anybody know if there is a difference between the bass & the guitar as far as the Moog circuit goes?

This is the third topic I open, after some time away and I've got already GAS. This is a bad place!

Have they released you from the Warwick dungeon, Niederländer?

Ha ha, no, see the Cafe. My right hand wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. And no, I'm not talking about masturbation.

IIRC the boards are exactly the same, BUT the pots soldered onto them are different (shaft length).

The circuit diagram is for both ( http://www.flyguitars.com/graphics/RDartist_circuit_diagram.gif )

Those CMTs would look so much better without the binding.
