... if the Greco Tbird II were new today, built as it was with that pup, what would you think it would run you in a GC?

Probably somewhere between the better MIJ Fenders and the MIJ Gretsches. Not cheap.

So, maybe $850 is uncomfortable, but not horrible.  Especially since you can't really go into a GC and buy one new or used.

No slouch if that.

Speaking of non slouchiness, while I am not a huge wino I have had several Chilean wines.  They have all been pretty decent, and were bargains for the price.

Speaking of wine; USA produces lots of good wine. So do France. That country, France, produces cognac, too. I guess California must produce something connected to wines, also. But what? Some kind of brandy? Gimme a name, please, so I can go for it!

Incas? That would centered around Peru, mostly!
California by the way, produces some world class wines.....just put "Napa Valley wines" in the intergoogle thingie there
And Chile does as well, one of my favorites being Carminiere. Well, just about anything that's red ;)

Yeah, Carmenere is typical for Chile, it's a grape that continues to only grow there after all the old Carmenere vinyards in Europe have disappeared due to a pest that Chile doesn't have. Of course, all the other classics such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah are on offer as well (I didn't see any Zinfandel though - that is not only a great grape for fruity rosés, but also sedatively heavy reds). Carmenere is for people who find a Merlot too heavy and a Cabernet Sauvignon too upfront in taste.

Asked around concerning Californian liquors. Got the answer that the professional wine business is no more that 50 years old, and that's the reason why there's no quality liquors, based on grapes, from California. Yet!

Peru would be the majority of the Inca empire, but Chile was the southern half.  If one were to go pre-Columbian, Chile would be an unnatural combining of two to three different "countries," with the southern half being the border with the Incas and home to the tribes they fought.  And who beat them back.

You are refering to the Mapuche tribes I believe. I understand they held not only invading tribes at bay, but also the Spanish and their descendants.

Well, I had to do it, couldn't resist.  The fine 'Bird from the Land of the Rising Son has found a new home with some older American cousins.

And check out the funky gig bag:

Here it is next to my '64

And here's a shot of the whole family:

For those that are not easily offended, here's the extended family:

Now where can I get a proper stand for a Thunderbird?  ;D

I'd enjoy your opinion of the Greco vs that gorgeous '64 ( I'n soooooo jealous!) 'Bird.

Glad it went to a good home too  ;)
