We live and learn... now I think things are falling into place - this is similar to Bill's Rickie project... a not hollow hollow body, but not in the LP's case...

Excuse the ignorance on this, Dave, et al... Is there any advantage apart from weight...? I presume this can cause some "resonance" to occur to the sound...

IMO any noticeable change in weight is going to change the sound a bit. Aside from that, it probably depends on the amount of chambering and the thickness of the top. A little bit isn't going to affect it any more than having a large control cavity would. But one like that LP pic you posted above might be noticeably more resonant if the top isn't too thick.

Oh my,  :o  I didn't see that one.  Let's just say I'm gonna skip the body we've been talking about and watch this one closely.  I probably will bid on it................wait, it's in the UK?  Crap!  Nope, it's in Tulsa. That's better.  Boy, you really confused me KennY!

well Bill, you have done more with less!

I was thinking of a mahogany veneer top to cover the routs, once repaired.  Maybe even chamber the body and put a cap on the back.   Lot's of possibilities!

niceeeeeeeee thoughts.

if i had your talent/abilities with wood, a really nice flamed, bookmatched Maple cap would look super.

vintageguitarman has some flamed stuff that i swear the flames are about 1/4" or more wide. and don't let him talk you into anything else, unless it is his birdseye/butcherblock stock, he has the good stuff aging! (he cuts his own lumber). check out his website and look at the "notacaster" he made. it is the tele look alike with the big head shaped like a "B". tell him i sent you and to give you a "Bill" discount.

By the way, the same vendor is selling the Les Paul bridge mute.

http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110480110764&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I am looking for a mute for my Eb-0, merely cosmetics, since I never use. Do you know if this will fit my EB-0? I asked the distance between screw holes and the reply was 70 mm (2'' 13/16) and this sounds very strange to me since my bass has 59 mm (2" 6/16) distance. Actually, for the mute that I have on my EB-2, 70 mm is the distance between the mute bar holding pins (see attached picture).
Can anybody confim if I can fit this in my EB-0?
Any help is appreciated

Uwe will probably know, but it will have to wait until he gets back home.

OK guys, I'm not going after this one after all.  The wife says I'm spening too much on bass stuff (and guitars!), so I'm gonna lay low for a bit and let her forget about that issue!!!  Guess I'll have to be happen with all of my other unfinished projects!

Mr. Barkless Dog, give me a ring sometime. I live in Brookfield, Il. I have some Ideas for custom Thunderbird 8 and 12 string basses. Maybe we could conspire together? Joe-773-259-6926
