Somehow I missed it but was informed about it. My OMG how horrible!

I never expected it to be that gruesome. The poor woman and her poor daughter.

QuoteNash's legal filing describes her injuries as "catastrophic." She lost both hands and incurred "traumatic facial injury" that includes the loss of her nose, upper and lower lips, eyelids and the bony structures in her mid-face.

Doctors have been able to reattach one of her thumbs, which Winfrey gently shook at the end of the interview. Asked what she would tell those who saw her and didn't know how to react, Nash said, "I'm the same person I've always been. I just look different. You know, and there's things that happen in life that, you know, you can't change it. You know, it's a tragedy."

I watched about half of that - and stopped when the owner was talking about the chimp being like a son to her.  She may feel that way, but the chimp is a danger and needs to go.  Now.  Lawsuits can sort out the rest.

People would be safer if others stopped assuming that animals have human reasoning and will always act predictably and safely.

My mom said she watched part of the interview when the woman was vieled, but refused to watch the gruesome part. My mom, who gets a kick out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, Night of the Living Dead, etc.

What free stuff did Oprah give away to the suburban housewives (excuse me, career women) in the audience who were expecting a show with Dr Oz or some interior designer?

I have yet to see it. Just a picture of her. Been too busy for Oprah

Damm dirty apes!

I didn't want to see the veil come off - I opted out before that.

I saw a photo today. Trust me, you guys don't need to see it. Poor woman... I want to have sympathy for the other lady but I just can't. People with that much stupid running through their veins just don't realize the havoc they wreak in others' lives.

Barklessdog

Sorry about my Chimp fixation, but the lady bathed & slept with the ape.

Its insane. All the other woman wanted was to help her. Just horrible.

Unfortunatley, that statement is partially true if you ignore what people do to each other with their "reasoning"............love how Oprah herself gets to do the dramatic unveiling.....

Naturally.
Is there anything she doesn't have her hands in?

Oprah is an Olympic champion smart at promotion and publicity.  None better.

Most people have no idea how potentially dangerous chimps are... they have been known to hunt down and rip their own kind "limb-from-limb", and then eat the remains...

Most people have no idea how incredibly strong they are either. A 200 lb man is no competition for a 200 lb chimp, not even close.

A lot of zoos do not want to deal with them. A lady from the Basenji site worked at the Columbus Zoo and the inside joke was you could tell who the people were who worked with chimps, as they were the ones with missing fingers.

I think what scares me the most about them is how human they are, yet on the other side so vicious & brutal.

Growing up with the image of Lancelot Link and other "cute" chimps it was shocking for me discovering what adults were really like.

Just think "Homosapien minus civilisation"... that is your "fear-factor..." that's what is probably hiding within your psyche... I know I (a veggie) could not exist in an "uncivilised world..."
