Anyway... I had one of those days when the Ipod was pumping away through the system (of a down and Nickelbag - 7 CD's worth, that sort of driving day...) and I got to thinking about a random word I came out with... CHROMOSEXUAL...

Tripped into overdrive, but I'm only going to drop in a sample here...

CHROME-HEAD - serious CHROME user...
CHROMOPHILIA - an unhealthy interest in CHROME...
CHROMER SIMPSON - most popular CHROMETOON character in CHROMEDOM...
CHROME-BOY - a very good friend...
LANCHROME - popular products for the CHROMICALLY-challanged... very popular in CHROME, Italy...
CHROMUNISM - all in a CHROMUNE are equal, but some CHROMUNISTS are more equal than others...
CHROMEO AND JULIET - unknown lesser work by William CHROMESPEARE (best known quote being "to CHROME, or not to CHROME, that is the question")
CHROMESPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK - a better class of CHROME..
CHROWME - bird known for it's love of shiny objects...
CHROMONICA - a possible pseudo-pseudonym for a popular LBOer...
CHROMOPHOBIA - fear of the CHROME (see also Hornung, Uwe; Dark Lord)
CHROME, SUITE CHROME - no place like it...
CHROMEVANA - the ultimate state, similar to CHROMUTOPIA...
CHROMABIRD - the ultimate Thunderbird...  ;D

really? Cheetah Chrome was the guitar player in Rocket from the tombs and the Dead boys. there was also an 80's Italian hardcore band called CCM, which stood for the Cheetah Chrome motherf#ckers.  and the G3 is waiting for me to get off my lazy ass.thanks a bunch but i'm still a little lost on that one. what does the symbol that looks like an arrow head made of stripes mean?

Its not an easy decision for me, generally I find chrome more appealing, but lets say that if I had a pink bass, I'd prefer black hardware on it. Its all about the basses colour.

 Ahh.......but I have Joe's pink non reverse, no way black hardware would go with that bass.
However, I do see your point - if I owned a Kubicki Factor and if it were painted in a very 1980's shade of Patrick Nagel / Miami Vice pink..........yes, black hardware would be the right choice.

I only have chrome and nickel hardware on my basses. Sometimes black can be nice (some Rickebackers) but it always gets ugly and dirty. A bit dirty chrome is no problem for me.

I asked my friends to shoot me if they ever see me with gold hardware. In my life I have only seen one bass with nice gold hardware, a reissue of a Gretsch in sunburst.

I did have a Rick 4004 Cheyenne which has gold hardware.

Fortunately none of Chris' friends saw me with it.  ;)
