Good lookin' kids, Herr Bassmeister...  8)

No matter what Mr Blackmore is doing these days, and no matter that the seed for "Smoke" was the bassist's, rock music still owes him a debt... remind young Master Hornung of that as often as you wish...  ;)

There are few things that I cannot forgive, but I still get irked that Slash keeps coming in "flat" in the solo of "that" song...

Thanks for the compliments, I'll pass them on to Gene ...

Chris, yes, Leon still has the Flying V, but these days he mostly plays a Gibson Custom Shop sunburst LP 59 (?) reissue he got for a good price from a salesguy who had owned it for a while. He did work for it and collected money from Christmas and birthday presents. I'll never forget his classic question when I - gently - questioned the need of a Custom Shop LP for a 15 year-old that already has a Gibson Flying V. "Dad, don't you feel guilty with all your basses that your son only plays a special faded Flying V they didn't even get to finish right?"  ;D ;D ;D ;D The Flying V sounds good though and I sometimes prefer to hear him on that as it doesn't have him immediately go into "Slash mode". Admittedly, the sustain of the Custom Shop thing is endless.

I believe you gave him the V, he will keep it and maybe 'rediscover' it in a while. He's a smart kid and he has guts to ask you that:D

As you know Loes has a faded LP junior. The finish is a matter of taste, but it sounds gorgeous! Our luthier is a Gibson collector and he wanted to keep Loes' guitars. He liked it very much. To our surprises the LP jr. was set up 99% good from factory!!! The guy just tweaked it a tiny little bit cos Loes plays .011 with a wound G.

I would SOOOOOOOOOOO play the guilt card if my dad had so many instruments in the vault, and "every one the wrong one dad...!"  :vader:

Kenny, sell your faded pair of denim as 'ex-Hendrix' and buy some nice basses with the earned cash!

Be sure to make some vintage Strats to go with. More of them have been sold than were ever actually manufactured by Fender, no one will notice as long as you teach your sweatshop employees the finer points. Lighter fluid not included.

How do you turn a Strat into a dog...?

One can of lighter fluid...
One match...

WOOF...

Okay... I'll go back in the soft room now...

The more you think about it is probably more profitable for them to do this than come out with another failure of a bass. How many basses do they have to sell to Uwe to turn a profit?

I'd like to see the breakdown of these guitar and bass paks. I would guess a large percentage are sold without a parent or player ever trying them out in the store, at least before the holidays.

% sold from store displays just inside the front door of music retailers
% sold from online music retailers
% sold from online discounters (eg. Amazon)
% sold from small music stores
% sold from other retailers (Target, Best Buy)
RD Artist w/ Victory headstock (sold)
2009 Epiphone Thunderbird IV silverburst (mods pending)
2005 Lakland Decade Dark Star | 2009 55-02 Chi-Sonic
2005 Dark Star P-Bass | 1986 Pedulla Buzz |
Eden heads with various 12's and 10's | Ampeg B-15N

No grand piano for me:(

Even on official Gibson forums and news threads people were talking bad about it. But very strange.

I was surprised that they let all those negative comments stay on their own pages. I wonder if that has anything to do with why they pulled the stories.

Tetchy lot... can't stand critiscism... Perhaps it would have paid to do their market research, you know, "What would you think of us producing a Fender Stratocaster copy dedicated to Jimi Hendrix...?" :rimshot:

Now let's get back to the sarcasm...  :vader:
