Interesting, and it looks well done. But they're only $499 new. After major mods like those, he'll be lucky to get his opening bid.

jmcgliss

Looks pretty good. Now it's a Treble Kat.

That guy totally misses the point of a Rumblekat.
Why on earth would you want a generic pickup like that in a bass like the Rumblekat? At the bridge even... ???

the string spacing on that pickup is wrong.i dont know to what extent the sound is compromised but i dont like the way it looks because of that, it looks kind of jammed in there.the black finish is not too bad though.
Louder bass!.

Exactly.

It might be cool if he had left the original pickups when he added the MM, and maybe just add a stacked Volume for the new pickup. Then you could get the standard Rumblekat sound, but have the option of using the MM.

Your kat-mod. The one Uwe has with the TV Joneses? That's nice. I like the black one too.

exiledarchangel

I like what he did with the colour and the binding, but that pickup mod is shitty-looking.
It would be nice instead if he had add another mini-humbucker at the bridge.

Love the idea of the bass just wrong pickup selections (lookswise). Who knows till you hear it.

I like the black on black looks. But since he went for a refin, should've just pluged the original pickup holes and really give it an original look. After all, with that huge MM PU hole it's not like it can be turned back to what it was.

My Kat mod was better.

I want to see that too!

BTW, I recently finished a personal project that I started about two years ago (kind of a prototype, building between customer's projects whenever I had the time) which is a long scale bass using the same body shape and size of the Kat series. I'm calling it the PhattKat  :-\
I still haven't got the time to do my usuall photoshoot and sound tests, but when I do I'll be posting it in the projects section.
Here's a peek...

Sweet - nice design!  8)   Look forward to seeing/hearing more of it!

The finish on this black kat looks nicely executed.  First thing that popped into my head when I saw it is the "rat rod" look:
