Looks like I'm back in the club
« on: September 08, 2009, 11:32:20 PM »
I just pulled the trigger on a "faded" SG Reissue that was on sale at a price too good to ignore, so not only am I back in the Gibson fold, I'm venturing into short scale land again for the first time in several years.

It's not a Framus or a Vox, but it won't look out of place in the Stone tribute show I've just joined.  Next step is to style my black wig so it has a long fringe.  I'm fairly confident this forum is the best place to get advice on that as well
Cheers

And as a matter of fact: The SG RI is the best SG shaped bass - even better than your EB-4L of yore - Gibson has ever done, period. I loaned one of mine (the GoW "Supreme"  Tequila Sunrise one) for a recording early this week to a befriended band - their bass player had left them a day before recordings commenced so their (most likely lesbian) lady guitarist called me ("it better not be too large or have too high an action ...") and I gave her the SG RI thinking that it should be comfortable for the hands of the little doughnut bumper***. The bass is meanwhile returned, and both the band and the recording engineer were full of praise for the little thing, it sounded "so incredibly full".

Was she talking about the bass, or something else?

Anyway.... Mark, I hope you and the short scale are compatible.

For the real Wyman feel, you need to marry a 19 year old girl when you're 53, after dating her for 6 years. Then after a couple of years you divorce her, and then her mother starts dating your grown son.

Congratulations, Mark! It's great to see you here.

BTW, I've been hearing ads on the radio for a show coming up with "The Australian Pink Floyd". I was excited for a second but realized if it was your band I would already have heard about it here!  ;D

"("it better not be too large or have too high an action ...")

Was she talking about the bass, or something else?"

Now that you mention it ... she did say something along the lines of "double truss rod, steel reinforced" too. Everything turned out to her utter satisfaction.

I fear that the results of the other Mark giving fashion advice to Aussie Mark as regards a Stones tribute band are rather forseeable, there is only that much you can do with uniforms and x-dressing:

Same old same old, for sure :-)

The SG reissue should arrive tomorrow.  I spent an hour or so on wig "setup" last night.

Mark, what products can I use on a synthetic wig to get the fringe to stay in place?  Hairspray?
Cheers
