Whilst taking the pics for my Peter Cook rebuild thread I spotted a detachment of the fretboard at the head of my RD...

This is a job for which type of CA...?

Gonna have to explain to the chemist... "no, I'm not a drug addict needing fresh needles, I want it to inject stuff into a guitar..."

I recently fixed an identical separation on my Jack Casady bass.  I used standard super glue injected via a very small syringe, but I did get some smear on the neck.  I got it off with acetone, which fortunately didn't affect the finish on the Casady.

I liked the suggestion I got (post facto) of thinning some Titebond with water so it would flow through the syringe, and injecting it.  Clamp and set time would be much longer, but it would have cleaned up more easily.

When I held the body and twisted the neck at the headstock the cracks would open slightly, so that helped me get the glue in the right place.  My wife helped by doing the twisting while I injected the glue.

I thought that was yours, Al; did some searching but it did not show up, and we're both prolific posters... not too worried about the fin as she's due post the Peter Cook rebuild, but the less damage...  ;)

I admit that when gluing something like that, I have finger, toes and eyes crossed for good luck.

I believe it was Bill/Dr. Bassman who suggested the thinned Titebond.  His artistry is such that I take his suggestions seriously!

Thin CA or thinned wood glue, either one.  A needle is best for sure if you can get the tip into the crack.  The problem is, how open is the crack?

I attribute it to his hiding out in that shed, associating with squirrels.  Might happen to any man.  ;)

Not a perve, Bill; just nuts...

Like all of the regulars here, we just love the chance of the "Oooh Matron" double entendre... just couldn't resist...  ;)

Gonna start a new proper thread for the Peter Cook at some point this week; the Nitromors has been out in force... the Tequilabird is officially gone... :sad:/ ;D

Sometimes I feel like I'm reading hardcore porn, is it just me? I'm going nuts? Must I be afraid of evil squirrels?
