Does anyone know what the difference is between pickguards from mid 60's reverse T-birds and the more current models? This link says that these guards only fit that 63-66 time frame. Are they larger or smaller??? Close to the same?

I had an extra '76 pickguard that I planned on putting on a newer bird and found I would have to shave a few millimeters off the top straight edge to make it work. I don't remember whether it would have meant shaving into the screw holes or not. There's a slight difference in wing size for all three eras of Thunderbird so you'd need to be careful in specifying which one you need.

Edit: I should probably read things twice in the morning because my comprehension is obviously less than stellar at that point in the day. I know 70's guards are bigger but I can't remember if 60's are bigger or smaller (than newer ones).

Modern day TB guards are only a minsicule bit shorter than sixties guards, but the screw holes are in (not radically) different places.

So if I wanted to get one of these for the Epi GothBird that I just bought, it should fit just the screw holes wont align? That wouldn't be a big issue to me.

Yes, if the extra screw holes in the body - this IS inviting comment, I know  :-\ - are of no concern to you then ...

Well, because I have to repair the area around the input jack and the pickguard didn't come with the bass it would be easy to fill the holes and touch them up when I paint the control area. Was debating if I should just fill the screw holes and go guardless.

Andy... my Peter Cook T'bird never had a guard, ever... any white transfers around...?

White T'bird "logo" for a "black" body, unless I've gone bananas... only if you skip the guard, Andy...  ;)
