Just saw TRANSFORMERS Rise of the Fallen & it was better than the first one!

Saw posters for Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland already but it ain't comin' til 3-5-10 !

Previews of Public Enemies look real goood. Depp as Dillinger!

Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards stars Pitt & looks intriguing:

I would say that there is greater disappointment in the fact that people will realize upon leaving the theater that in real life he was actually not killed early on (even though many tried)!

Only Tarantino could get away with a no-no like that: A war and spy movie about a real war that sees a real existing historical figure killed when in fact it wasn't. Kind of like the Three Musketeers finishing off Richelieu, Sitting Bull winning against the US Cavalry and being elected first Native American US President, or Jesus climbing down from the cross and saying "I have more urgent appointments tonight, sorry, you Romans carry on without me, please!"

I like Tarantino for ingenious ideas and moments he has in his films, but ever since From Dusk to Dawn he has failed to live up to expectations to deliver a good film from start to finish, Kill Bill I perhaps excepted (Part II was a disappointment in my view).

Well I was thinking of turning the thread I made yesterday for Transformers into a summer movie thread but I guess this works.

I gotta say that it will be interesting to see how Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is going to turn out next year.

We tend to stick to a family experience, when we go to visit the "silver screen", so the only film we saw during the summer was Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince (certainly the darkest of the fims, so far), and also because it has got so ridiculously expensive to see them that way... my daughter and I did sneak off to see Star Trek, though...

A lot of the time, we wait for the DVD (Blu-Ray is still a tad expensive to consider, at least until the present set-up... no, don't risk saying it) and as I have a good (albieit budget Panasonic 5-1, and a Sony 32-LCD) basic home setup, we save a fortune, buy the popcorn and the "Ben & Jerry's", and get to watch the movie as often as we wish...

My newest was "Watchmen" (not family viewing, just awesome; still waiting to watch it in one sitting, though) and my wife/daughter got "Bride-Wars" (they quite like Anne Hathaway, and I must admit that she has grown up into a very attractive young woman, albeit "nuts" in the "real-world", or so I've heard, in a good/funny way; the family film was "Marley & Me"... I also had a copy of "saving Private Ryan" bought for me, too... we often wait for the cheapies (I collect movies like Uwe collects Gibsons, sort of; my wife used to say that I, "collect collections... "), which helps with the budget...

I didn't realize that The Incredibles was based, in part, on Watchmen.

Public Enemies and Inglorious Basterds are on my list, as is District 9.

I really liked the latest Harry Potter and the new Star Trek film.

The Harry Potter movie is appropriately dark, given the way the books become progressively more serious. The Star Trek movie was just a kick in the butt, and I got a big grin out of how they managed the obligatory business of working the necessary characters into the plot.

Did all of you remember where Christopher Pike (the Captain in the new Star Trek) appeared in the original Star Trek series? I thought his part was exceptionally well managed.
