What to do with an SG when you're bored

I just spotted a thread on TB which contained an interesting idea.  A gent in Europe decided to mod his Epi EB-0, and he went a direction I haven't seen before...he used a '51 P-style single coil pickup.

I think it turned out pretty nicely.  (Yes, he de-fretted it, too - but that's not the unusual part.)

Here's a look.....comments?

Looks damn' nice actually, bet it sounds great as well.

It dosen't look as out of place as you'd think it would.

I'm using two of those SD '51P pickups (potted in chrome covers) on my F'Bird, aside from the occasional 60 cycle hum they're great sounding, tight, and kinda thumpy  :)

Same here.  Somehow I think that pickup looks right at home.  Maybe because it picks up the black look of the PG.

That could be exactly it! 8)

Also, I dig the SG with all the mirrors, heh, bassist can take the spotlight!

I didn't even notice that pickup on first glance, it looks okay to me too. The little extra knob looks out of place though.

Wasn't that inspired by that great song? How was it?...

It looks fine, and I would rather see the pickup placed there than right by the bridge like an EB-3.

You know, there are chrome pickup covers for strat pickups, maybe there are for  51's too? One of those would look great.

Could put a full size chrome cover over it, if he wanted.

That looks like it had a starring role in "Quadrophenia".
