Darrol

There are many in this world that call me Darrol, feel free to be apart of that group.

Highlander

Dark City - I keep seeing that in the cheapies, pick it up and put it back... I may try that now, ta...

There's another one - "Twelve Monkeys" (as you mentioned "Brazil", John  ;D )
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Barklessdog

Dark City is great sci fi movie and should not be passed up.

Anyone every see "The Tin Drum"?

Highlander

Tell me more, John...

Any "Tron" fans...?

Hey, I was a fan of Demolition Man, in which Sly Stallone and Wesley Snipes had a great time chewing the scenery and blowing up lots of things.  Not an SF classic, but a fun "blow-em-up."
"A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila."

Highlander

Nothing wrong with that, Pilgrim, and don't forget "Total Recall" which was based on a Phillip K Dick short story, as was "Minority Report", and a Bill Gibson story as "Johnny Mnemonic" and if you want mindless thoroughly enjoyable mulch how about "Independance Day" ("it ain't ove till the fat lady sings...!"), or a sentimental, and because it is, much overlooked film, "Bicentenial Man" written by Issac A for the US 1976 celebrations... or 2 similar but poles apart movies "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact", of which I prefer the latter for it's story, or for the thinker, the astonishingly good "Contact" by Carl Sagan... Or "Pitch Black"/"Chronicles of Riddick" - both versions, and...

I am sorry to report that Ken's brain has just exploded; be assured that this will make no appreciable difference to his nominal operational parameters and normal service will restored shortly...

Geez Ken, if your tastes are that broad, I'll confess that I recently watched "Spaceballs"...with that arch-villain, Dark Helmet.  Definitely stupid as only a Mel Brooks movie can be.

And it costarred Daphne Zuniga!  8)

That's just the tip of the iceberg, Pilgrim...  ;)

Still picking up bits of my brain... Gawd, what a mess...

Hmm... Mel Brooks "Young Frankenstein" fits the SF bill, too, but tonight I intend to view a Clint Spag classic so my wife can do some cruising...

Dark City is one of the most brilliant, thoughtful yet suspenseful Sci Fi movies ever.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Highlander

Uwe, John & Gary... stunned... Dark City was made in 1998...? how on earth did I miss this one...? Just finished watching it for the first time, and now I've just discovered a D exists, and yes I am that sad, I'll get that too...  ;)

BTW... some of the sets got re-used in "The Matrix" ...

and another BTW, my cousin (same name, different continent) was well pee'd off with Reeves and his band (Dogstar, whoever they may be...), as they block-booked the best rehearsal rooms in Sydney whilst filming the trilogy...

John & Gary... thanks for the recommendation...

Now I've gotta check on Tin Drum...?

Tin drum is kind of shocking, so be warned. It was banned from some states and Block Buster Video. It was about a boy in Nazi Germany who at some age refuses to talk or grow old, so he stays a child physically.

We just saw "Slaughter House 5", had not seen that in years, was still good. We also watched "The Cube" which was pretty cool.

I wanted to say I finally had the chance to see Star Trek.

Loved it!  :)
