new Gibson SG for me! oh yeah.

hey i just got this 2001 Gibson SG Special in trade for some Triumph motorcycle parts. i love getting guitars without spending money !!!!!

 though i think i'm gonna put chrome covers on the pickups.

I've been a Fender guy all my life, but I just LOVE the look of the SG series.  Dunno why, it's just that way.

the SG is my all time favorite guitar. though i would prefer a standard or custom.i love binding and blocks.

Tho I admit the silver ones look great on the Elliot Easton Sig SG.

Dang, that Ebay SG have everything I love - chrome, the right color of blue, and lotsa "stuff"!!

If only it didn't cost nearly what my daughter's Jeep cost.....

I'm a little late to this conversation I guess.  But I reacted much the same way when:

1) I saw Avril Lavigne's tele... black with a checker pg.  I quickly took the checker pg off of my black melody maker.  I didn't even want a similar vibe to that.

and

2) When I saw the squire signature tele of that guy from Sum 41.  It looks almost exactly like my '72 reissue deluxe.  I'll just make sure not to put big red x's on it.

Nice score!  I had a similar SG Special.  I liked those 490s, so I kept 'em and soldered on some nickel covers.  I had also polished mine out with Butchers bowling alley wax to give the faded finish some lustre:
