A Gibson SG reissue that I like

I tend to want to heave when I see what Gibson calls a reissue, especially in the realm of an SG.  I am sure this one will cost a small fortune, but at least it looks right.  There is no stud on a 60s SG Standard, and there isn't one here.  What do you all think?

Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

It looks cool. But to further cement your observations here, there were earlier instances where the Maestro vibrato re-appeared on the Gibson SG.

The Angus Young Signature SG

The Elliot Easton Signature SG, which also comes in white with Gold parts.

What both these signature SG's have in common is that neither Angus or Elliot Easton uses the Maestro vibrato, it's just there because it looks right. Krieger on the other hand DID use the Maestro on his SG and I think he was one of the few who actually did.

I had forgotten about those, but I remember the Angus one has some AC DC nonsense on the bar.  I guess now in seeing those, this is more or less the same guitar as the Angus one.

I like the aging looks of the Krieger model.

That is an absolutely beautiful guitar!

But...................

Why, oh why, oh why, would a manufacturer put out a lovely instrument like that and make it  "...and historically accurate right down to the tiniest scratches, dings and belt rash.."????  It's a FAKE.  When Krieger bought his, you can bet he didn't look for an instrument that was beat up.  He played it and over the years it became worn.  Anything else is a fake.

To me, every nick or ding takes $100 or more off the value of the instrument.  If I spend Gibson (or Fender) money for a new instrument, I want it 100% pristine, not a mark on it.  Otherwise it's like buying a brand-new trumpet that someone has attacked with a hammer.

They could at LEAST offer a version without the damage for people who care what their instruments look like!

I don't get it - I don't get Fender road worn - I just don't get the whole idea.  I know that others do - but I don't.

I don't want to start a holy war over this - I'm just saying that I don't get it and don't care to.  :P

I couldn't agree more. If I'm going to pay somebody to beat something up, it sure as hell won't be one of my instruments ;)

Ask and you will receive:

it will only be produced in a very limited run of only 150 guitars — 50 aged to look exactly like Krieger's, and 100 with Gibson Custom's V.O.S. finish treatment.

Looks like it's still $8000, though, even if they don't beat it up.
