4005 Jetglo - great color for 4005s IMHO. $13,500 starting bid.

It's hard to be sure, from the photos, but it looks as though the bridge is not original--it looks identical to the bridge (also not original) that is on my '66 4005 WB--larger saddles, thumbwheels for bridge height adjustment, etc.  Again, I might be wrong, but that's the way it looks on my monitor.

Here's mine for comparison:

2050 El Dorado - JG/gold hardware. Modded to fretless and the back of the neck is shaved - easy restoration. $799 starting bid. Rare bass and IMHO the prettiest of the 2000 Series.

Yep, a mighty fine lady...

If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Agree. The body/neck is May-Aug '73, the jack plate serial number is May '72, and the TRC is post-'75.

Still a very nice Fireglo.

An interesting one - 1982 Jetglo with black plastic and pinstripe double binding. I like one-offs from RIC. This precedes the Shadow by four years.

That's in very nice shape.

First time I see a Ric-Outlet one-off creation back on eBay. This one was made from old stock surplus 4002 body wings, with checkerboard binding. Half-inch neck pickup spacing... Doesn't get much cooler than this IMHO.

I'd have it re-finished in Autumnglo.  8)

Norman's Rare Guitars (suppliers of Nigel Tufnel's collection!) have a cool 4005WB:

That's in reasonably good shape. Price ought to go well above the starting bid.

Something about the overall design of the 4001/4003 keeps me from warming up to black pgs, trcs and hardware on them.
The yellow 4001 at Harry's even has black binding, though the tuners and pups are chrome.
Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
Clocks.
