I've never played a bolt-on Ric before. I'd like to check out a 2000 or 3000 series some day.

The Reverb listing mistakenly calls this a 6020. Dyslexic I someone say is. :o

The 2030GF I had was the meanest, in a good way, Rick bass I've had, and the neck was very early '70s like in feel.  :)

New S/5 MkII on Reverb. If you're into these things. $2,299

In what respect do you mean by: "If you're into these things"?

You'd have to be into 5-string basses, the idea of a 5-string Ric, and the odd look of those pickups. None of those ideas appeal to me, but at least they're testing the market again after all these years. If they don't sell, the critics won't have cause to complain, even though a certain person will.

'72 neck-thru 4000 in White. How cool is that. I mean picture it with a white guard and Ric knobs... wow. GBP 1,599 ($2,144) BIN.

That refin is looking shabby in places but seems reasonably priced for the UK.

Since it's been refinished there's nothing to lose with a new paint job. I'd go with BlueBoy with a clear guard back-sprayed with aged white to match the plexi TRC. And a reissue horseshoe, they are awesome.

Which doesn't say much about the used prices, here! That 4000 is shagged, and needs a lot of work. The refin looks crude, as does the black pickguard (with missing screw!). The missing finish up by the nut didn't just happen out of thin air! There is probably something wrong at that point, due to somebody cranking away on the truss rods. The same geezer who put the P bass knobs on there.  :o

Money no object I would pay somebody to build me a Chris Squire or 4001S replica from this sorry thing.

Has Ric put out a real reissue horseshoe recently or are you talking about the one that's been out for years?

The standard reissue, with the non-magnetic horseshoes. Sure it's not a true replica of the originals and historically incorrect but I like it a lot.

Technically not a bass but you know... it's half the 4080 so it can go here and not the guitar section.

One-off 480 in pearl white, ebony board, checkerboard binding including bound 620 gumby headstock (original ones had the cresting wave shape. imho the gumby is better), and generally redesigned and better looking than old 480's. This one is neck-thru like the basses. Mirror guard, and get this - MIRROR INLAYS.  $3,599 through the Ric boutique.

They finally got the 480 right.

A very yellowed '87 4003SPC Tuxedo ($3,299) and '89 Blackstar ($4,000) on Reverb.

They seem less sought-after than ten years ago. Maybe all the Ric collectors who want an SPC have already bought one.

That 480 is awesome. Mirror inlays - WOW!
