More shameless picks from the vault
« on: March 05, 2009, 05:30:18 AM »
I've posted a few of these and I am getting through the conversion from old VHS tape to Hard drive so i thought I'd post another one.

To reiterate:
Back in 1987 I was in a Deep Purple tribute band. I had forgotten but we had a single camera setup at one of the gigs and recorded the show. Mostly for our own benefit to critique ourselves and improve the show.
Anyway I had forgotten about this vid and recently while cleaning out my shed I found a VHS copy of it. I've been picking the eyes out of it and copying it to my Hard drive.

The audio is just the mic at the front of the camera unfortunately,  no desk out mix here. Wish the bass was louder in the mix

Very good job, that is a song not easily covered with the rhythm and harmony vocals and your vocalist even looked a bit like young Coverdale!

In effect, this song is a Cream pastiche around a Blackmore riff that somehow snuck on the Burn album. Coverdale and Hughes were open about the fact at the time that they had tried to emulate Bruce's/Clapton's harmony singing on this particular track. They did it quite well too, I think.

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Yeah! Excellent!  Your singer looked & sounded a lot like DC.
I agree, it's too bad your bass is not louder!!!

Great way to start the day with these 2 vids tho, thanks!!

And more recently this is what I do with my mates for fun. We dont practice, we do about 2 or 3 shows a month. We get $200 each and free drinks. Sometimes a meal. We have all known each other for a very long time and the music very is low stress, low challenge stuff. Good chemistry. Just lazy fun with ya mates kind of stuff.
