S1 taking shape

I took a break from laquer  :P and laid out my S1. I need to put some more dark on the outer edges , but Im likin it so far.



I decided to do a  tiger head stock overlay


It takes a very deep-rooted opinion to survive unexpressed

I was inspired by your blues hawk to do both these  projects. I do agree that if I had done a short scale on the S1 the hardware would have layed out better . I could not find a short scale neck at the time . Hell I may make another if I like this one.

Wow, that is really green! What kind of dye process/material did you use?
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

I did the black dye and sanded back. Then I started with diluted stewmac bright green & a bit of yellow. I sanded back a bit, added a couple drops of green. Its nice(mostly because i like green) I left the edges  light  maple and the mahog is natural w/ white grain fill.

Black is alcohol base from a powder. Yellow and green are water based.

Buffed and a bit of sun ,finally.





I tried the faux binding and it came out good. here you can see where the top  trims for the arm cut.

The faux binding is super cool.

I like the idea of binding better than the instalation, the exposed maple edge really looks flash and no super glued fingers!

Barklessdog did it on his Bleushawk project and It came out nice. Definate glueless plus!!!!!

neck and head plate came out good also.
