I think that's an effffffing cool bass, and would totally rock it!  People and their opinions about what "might" look good onstage are so much B.S., play what you please, life is too short  :)

Yeah, I've considered a 702. One in white would be nice. Looking at that shot of the back, a REVERSE 702 might be cool.  8) Or not...

I'm the "Online Sales Manager" at Strait Music here in Austin and last year I sold a bunch of Guilds from the '70s and '80s for a retired Guild sales rep.  Among them was this amazing X-79 that was handpainted(!) with mind-blowing black and yellow graphics, Stryper style.  Apparently the factory did a handful of these in a few different color combos to gauge dealer interest.  If it had been a bass it would be MINE!  The X-79's shape is the reverse of the X-702 so you can get an idea of what that might look like.  Oh yeah, and it was new old stock with the original hang tags!!  Went to a guy in Germany.

Obviously it didn't stir enough interest among Guild dealers. There were plenty of wild things on the market back then, but I guess that's not what Guild dealers or buyers were looking for.

Yep, that's about as un-traditional as it gets!  Plus it couldn't have been cost effective to mask and paint all those stripes by hand on the production model.  My photos don't do it justice--believe it or not, as wild looking as it was, it was beautiful in person.

Check THIS one out!  It's kind of "Dr. Suess meets Poison".  Suddenly the black and yellow seems pretty subdued.

I had a bit of acreage on stage on Saturday night for our Stones show.  Nice big club auditorium, over 500 tickets sold.  We had enough room to break out the fake Ampeg head and cab shells LOL

Cheers
