All those pics are the wrong way round, aren't they?  8)

Here are a few shots of me in our vintage country band, 3 Chord Rodeo, with my '78 Guild B-301 and beloved Les Paul bass.  I bought the Guild from the original owner in California who is a guitarist that rarely used it, as it's pristine condition attests.  All I had to do was polish it up a bit and switch out the dorky original knobs with much cooler (and also correct) G shield ones.  It's all mahogany with a set neck, plays like a dream and sounds killer! --Greg

Thanks, Pilgrim!  The LP is a little thicker sounding with slightly higher output while the Guild has that deep Gibson tone plus the midrange sparkle of a Jazz Bass.  With only one pickup I thought it would have more of a honky P-bass tone; thank goodness it doesn't--that's not my deal.  Both basses are strung with DR flats and honestly sound pretty darn similar live with a little EQ-ing.

Those Guilds B-301s look cool, always have, always will.

Those oversize LPs are fine basses, but I'm not sure whether I prefer them to the regular LP size. Let's face it, a Les Paul belongs in the groin when played in erect mode!

Ooooo, I can't wait to see Mark's response to THAT!     I'm torn also, Uwe--I sure like the visual presence of the big LP body (thank goodness for weight relief), but there's no denying that the proportions of the regular version look better.  The pickups in particular look a little out of scale on the big boy.  I'd love to see a fully-bound Les Paul Custom version of this bass with all that sweet MOP inlay!  Maybe someday when I'm rich and famous I'll commission one...

I have a big-butted Goldie just like yours!

Wow, those were the days!  And those Laugh-In bikini dance clips are still hot I think.

Very cool basses!

I've always thought B301s looked like a bass Gibson would have made - I mean that in a good way  :)

Les Paul oversized fits a big gurl best  ;)  I need to get one, but it'll probably mean selling a Bird.
