I have been jonesing for one for along time. So here is my plan. Back in the day I had a factory CAR 70's Tele, I think I paid $125 for it ! Alas I sold it  But what I am thinking about is a Alder bodied Dark Star Tele bass. Maple/maple neck, Black with the w/b/w  guard. Simple and understated. While i am gathering parts i need a pattern for the pick guard, can any one help ?

Me too!  I had an original that I rehabbed, but this is a nicer variation on that bass IMHO.  I'm still wanting the 68 style one, but black with maple neck is a great combo.
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

I had a black '77 I wish I hadn't sold.

I've got the PG pattern Scott.

I can send you my old black pickguard - it has a little bit cut out for a P-bass pickup but you can still use it for a super-accurate tracing! There are pics of it before and after in this thread. Email me if you're interested - I don't need the black-white-black one anymore.

I just realized, I should point out that it's a Warmoth pickguard, not the original. The original is LONG gone, it was already cut up before I came into ownership of the bass...

Scott and I live across town from each other, so I can easily get a tracing to him.

OK - cool - I just get excited about Telecaster Basses! And actually, this pickguard has a lot of memories (though it's available if it will help anyone).
