JPJ Says Zep is ON with or without Plant!
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:49:12 PM »
Story here:

http://www.prefixmag.com/news/john-paul-jones-confirms-reports-that-led-zeppelin/22604/

I made a comment on the article---that Jack Russell would be the only worthy choice if Plant ain't gonna do it.
Coverdale has said he is NOT interested in joining Zep & firmly but politely insisted on keeping all talk on his site strictly WS related.

I'm not a Zep fan, so I'm wondering if fans would consider it a real reunion without Plant.

Well, let's call Paul Rodgers and call it Led Zeppelin + Paul Rodgers. It could be nice on his CV of bands he ruined. (Yes, 'ruined' and not 'reunited')

Why not? We'd have half the original 4...same as The Who.
Worth it just to see The Greatest Bassist On Earth! imho

If Plant won't do it they need a singer with as much panache and showmanship as Plant has; my vote is for Celine Dion.

Neven been a Zep fan - I can't relate with Plant's singing or his lyrics, even though he is in a league of his own -, but Zep touring without Plant as Zep is like Paul McCartney and Ringo hiring two guys and calling themselves The Beatles. Or the Rolling Stones continuing without Mick.

Plant was/is more than the singer of Zep, his voice (more than with other singers because he was never one to transport any relevant lyrical content!) is a key part of Zep's instrumentation and overall sound.

We already have to suffer with "Queen + Paul Rodgers". I have no appetite for "Led Zeppelin + Chris Robinson" or whoever they plan to get. I'm fine with Page and Jones getting back together and recording a new album under a new moniker though.

Pushin' the overemotive Canadians, eh?  ;) In that case, may I suggest Shatner?  ;D

I thought I was the only one who saw it this way :o
Paul Rodgers has a good voice . I am not one of the many who thinks he is the greatest singer of all time ???
To me, it doesn't matter what he does, it always comes out sounding like Bad Company :-\

Why not call it "The Firm + John Paul Jones" then?

Wow ..... Zep without Plant gives me the shivers. The only singer I ever would consider as a viable replacement would have been Coverdale. I gotta say, after all this time if it's not going to be the three surviving members, why bother?!? That's not to say I wouldn't go .... I mean, JPJ is a fabulous player as is Page ..... it just really wouldn't be the same.

Maybe they should look up Terry Reid again, since he was supposed to be the singer for Zep in the first place.

I haven't even heard his name in a decade or two. Is he alive and well?
I caught him in the late 60s maybe 70. What a voice!!! That would work for me.
