Birdies 'n' Flowers ...
« on: October 28, 2008, 08:34:13 AM »
Introducing the Floralbird:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1976-Gibson-Thunderbird-Bass-Cherry_W0QQitemZ220290692311QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220290692311&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

It's not horrible, actually. Someone put some love in it I guess, though flower inlays remain a matter of taste. The cherry refin is tasteful and the added controls and toggle probably make sense if you are a twiddler. The tuners aren't exactly beauties but probably combat neck heaviness.

The colour is nice, but I don't like those 'tree of life' and other over the top inlays.

That poor thing's been floating around on ebay for a little while now...............Love the color, not likin' that Tree of Life or those tuners. Gold knobs would help too.

I kinda want it.  But I'm afraid I would abuse it too much.  Some people just shouldn't have nice things.

Also, I usually don't like those floral, tree of life, whatever fretboard things... but on this, for some strange reason, I love it.  If only this beast were going to be available in about a year, I should have enough extra to snag it by then.

I remember thinking at the time that Uwe was probably booking a charter cargo plane to take the whole mess home...
